Biodegradation of Flax-Linen fibres in marine conditions

In response to growing concerns about the environmental impact of microfibers from textiles or plastics (sources of marine pollution), the Alliance has initiated a study into the biodegradability of Flax-Linen under marine conditions.

Carried out in partnership with HYDRA Marine Sciences, a benchmark laboratory in aquatic research, the study assessed Flax-Linen capacity to biodegrade in marine sediments, where fibres from domestic washing can end up.
