European Flax-Linen and Hemp at the heart of innovation in design, interiors and architecture
On 8 and 9 October 2026, the Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp takes part in Rendez-vous de la Matière at the Carreau du Temple in Paris. On this occasion, the Alliance presents a selection of technical innovations and creative developments highlighting the diversity of European Flax-Linen and Hemp applications in design, interiors, architecture and spatial design.
From furnishing textiles and composite materials to coverings, furniture and objects, these natural, bio-based fibres open up new possibilities for architects, designers and specifiers. Their aesthetic qualities, technical performance and environmental characteristics make it possible to combine innovation, creativity and eco-design.
Among the innovations on show are Flax-Linen composites for lighting, furniture and architecture, Hemp panels and coverings for construction and interior spaces, as well as new textile and decorative solutions. Developed by Alliance members and their partners, these innovations demonstrate the potential of these plant fibres, from traditional uses to the most advanced industrial applications.
This year's edition also highlights Belgian textile expertise and innovation, while a round table organised by the Alliance, entitled “Flax-Linen: from raw fibre to the designer’s craft”, explores the role of this material in contemporary design.
