Tagwalk 2025 survey: Linen confirms its place in fashion and luxury houses

May 19, 2025

Linen, long associated with casual summer fashion, is undergoing a real evolution. The study carried out by the Tagwalk platform for the Alliance reveals the growing importance of this creative fibre in the collections of major international fashion brands.

An analysis of the catwalks of 60 international brands shows that linen is increasingly present, bold and valued in the world of top-of-the-range ready-to-wear.

Linen, now a must-have material

Linen continues to make headway on the catwalks. Its use is changing: it is moving away from the summer or casual register to take on sophisticated, structured and even couture pieces.

Linen is making a name for itself in both women's and men's collections. It's also making a name for itself for autumn-winter, thanks to innovative blends with wool, cashmere and cotton. Brands such as Zegna, Louis Vuitton and Chloé are confirming this trend.

Linen fibre at the crossroads of creativity and sustainable fashion

As well as its styling potential, linen is attractive thanks to its environmental properties: grown in Western Europe (mostly in France), linen fibre produced in Europe benefits from the Masters of FLAX FIBRE™ and Masters of LINEN™ labels, guarantees of the industry's expertise and traceability.

A sustained industry dynamic

With more areas cultivated in 10 years, the growth of the sector accompanies the growing demand of the fashion sector.
The Tagwalk 2025 study reinforces the role of linen in a more responsible and innovative textile industry.
